Frequently Asked Questions
Mission: “Deliver God’s Word through Motorsports.”
Goal: “Reach One Million Men for Jesus Christ.”
We are a non-denominational Christian organization that believes the Bible is the true Word of God and that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. This bearing dictates that we define ourselves as to who we are, what we do, why we do it, and where. To many, Kingdom Racing is just a sticker on a racecar and shirts, etc. When people see the logo, some may be curious and ask questions. To that effect, we must be able to answer the following basic questions regarding Kingdom Racing and the Mission. Additionally, we must also instruct these basic principles to the race team members as they will most often be approached by inquisitive fans.
Below are both Short and Long answers to these questions. The Short answers are for the “15-second elevator speech”. The Long answers provide a more explanatory definition of the Kingdom Racing identity.
WHAT is Kingdom Racing?
Kingdom Racing is a Christian racing and outreach team in the IZOD INDYCAR Series. Kingdom’s Mission is to “Deliver God’s Word through Motorsports” by building great relationships with people throughout the racing community to “Reach One Million Men for Jesus Christ.”
Kingdom Racing is a story in Christ, about God, and how He uses ordinary people to achieve the extraordinary for His kingdom. It is also a collection of personal stories, each containing tragedy, spiritual rediscovery, perseverance, surrender, restoration, the determined pursuit of excellence, and ultimately, victory!
The collective of the Kingdom Racing stories are those of Davey Hamilton, George del Canto, and many others. Amazing encounters have brought us all together for the purpose of sharing these stories through our mutual passion for racing, spiritual growth in Christ, and unequivocal pursuit of excellence. We serve God’s kingdom in sharing those stories and helping to guide others upon their own path in the pursuit of Truth.
Who is Davey Hamilton?
Davey is a lifelong racing driver with roots in dirt short tracks who went on to race in the Indianapolis 500 eleven times. In October, 2001, he was critically injured in a racing crash at Texas Motor Speedway and was told he would never walk again. Davey drew from his faith in Christ to overcome his injuries and return to racing. He remains actively involved in various forms of motorsports, supporting his son, Davey Hamilton, Jr., as well as being co-owner of Schmidt Hamilton Motorsports in the IZOD INDYCAR Series.
How was Kingdom Racing formed?
The amazing thing was, George didn’t realize what he’d just said. The words had been placed upon his tongue by God. Startled, George asked Marichu what he’d said and she repeated it to him. When George attended the men’s Bible study and revealed his vision with the others, they were collectively enthused and thus, Kingdom Racing was born of God and set forth upon the Mission to “Deliver God’s Word through Motorsports.”
WHO is Kingdom Racing?
Kingdom Racing was born of a single, specific vision-challenge delivered by God with a charge to build a Christian INDYCAR team to “Deliver God’s Word through Motorsports” and “Reach One Million Men for Jesus Christ.” The team is comprised of Christians who have all been led by God in various ways to this same inspirational and spiritual vision.
We are a group of regular men and women, brought together through amazing spiritual circumstances, each sharing a passion for racing, faith in God, surrender to Jesus Christ, and a charge to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with everyone.
We come from all walks of life. Our various backgrounds encompass many different professions. We are racing drivers, writers, international financiers, graphic designers, technology professionals, marketing professionals, and the list goes on. But, we are all imbued with dual passion-a love for racing and a heart to serve our Lord Jesus Christ. And that is the bond that holds us together and pushes us onward.
WHAT does Kingdom Racing do?
We build relationships and discipleship through the love of Jesus Christ and share our mutual stories of restoration and regeneration through Him with those whom God places before us everywhere along our Mission to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are charged to deliver a message to enrich people’s lives and help them grow spiritually through the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will continue to link arms with churches and ministries in this endeavor.
We share the Kingdom Racing story with the world and fold the impact of that experience back into the story itself to continually and perpetually share with everyone.
We are charged to reach out to fans, teammates, and supporters; to listen to their stories and share ours with them. To this end, we conduct outreach events at various tracks and eventually envision full race festivals on the infields and midways of race tracks across America.
We are charged to help in any possible way to make Kingdom Racing THE benchmark of faith and excellence in the IZOD INDYCAR Series.
We will be at most races in 2012 and praying for safety and victory. But most of all, we will show up, share our story and let God do His business.
